Since the days of the video cassette recorder (VCR), no other recording device had been launched in the market.

However, that wait is over as Onida launches its digital video disc recorder (DVR) in the market this week, said Ajay Singh, regional manager, east, Onida. This is a first of its kind product since no major electronic brand has launched such a device before now, he said.

"With the help of this DVR, you can convert old video and audio cassette tapes onto a digital video disc (DVD) or record directly from television and audio players and also from handycams. Like a VCR, it also doubles up as a DVD player. The product has already been tested in the markets in western India including Pune and Mumbai where the response have been good. Now we want to test it in the rest of the country", said Singh.
